Synopsis
Leaving a traumatic police career behind, Clyde Fortune has returned to her seemingly quiet hometown of Crystal Haven, Michigan. In spite of the psychic powers of its residents, there’s no telling what trouble is brewing in this burg…
The highlight of the fall festival in Crystal Haven is a bonfire with a witch’s cauldron resting over it. Clyde’s best friend Diana leads a ritual to divine the future, but it seems no one foresees that one of their own will drop dead—or that Diana will be a prime suspect.
Clyde already has her hands full with her eccentric family, runaway nephew, and burgeoning secret romance with a hunky homicide detective. But after another coven member is attacked, Clyde suspects there’s a witch hunt afoot and focuses her psychic and sleuthing skills to clear her friend’s name and catch a killer.

Interview:
Where are you from?

I was born in New York, currently live in Iowa, but consider Michigan home.

Tell us your latest news?

The release of Be Careful What You Witch For is my most current news. But we are already working on the next one. I recently turned in book 3 to my editor and that one should be released in spring of 2015.

When and why did you begin writing?

I began writing when I was a child, mostly because I loved books and thought it would be the best job in the world. I was right, but it took me a while to figure that out.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

About eight or nine years ago I started to take writing seriously. I joined an amazing writing group and began really learning the craft.

What inspired you to write your first book?

My first book (not the one that was published) was written just for me as an escape from the stresses of a job that didn’t suit me. I guess you could say it was the desire for sanity that inspired me.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I think my style is light and humorous. I admire writers of darker genres and more serious topics, but that doesn’t come as easily to me as the quirky characters and comic mayhem.

How did you come up with the title?

Titles are a group effort between my editor, myself, and the clever people at Berkley. Be Careful What You Witch For takes place at Halloween and there is a Wiccan ceremony. We brainstormed a list of witchy ideas and this one fit the best.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I do have a theme with each novel, but more than that I want readers to enjoy the books. I think laughter and entertainment are important. I suppose an overall theme for the series would be the importance of family and friends (and pets) and how they impact each person’s experience.

What would you like my readers to know?

How grateful I am to each one of my readers. It’s because of them that I get to have the best job ever.
