Synopsis
Brandi Haas is no domestic goddess . . . but she’ll tell you that motherhood is probably the hardest gig in the universe: “The pay is horrible, the wardrobe is pathetic, and your boss (although utterly adorable) is usually a tyrant.”
Brandi brings her trademark wit from the popular blog to this new collection, sharing stories of birthday party mayhem, mommy martyrdom, and snow shoveling majesty.
The setting is Anytown, USA, among barking dogs, picket fences, and eclectic neighbors.
Tales from Suburbia: You Don’t Have to Be Crazy to Live Here, but It Helps will make you laugh, warm your heart, and let you know you’re not alone. Mothers (and fathers) will recognize themselves, their children, and the absurd situations that family life brings to us all.

About This Author
Brandi Haas is a former high school English teacher turned stay-at-home mom. Born and raised in California, she now lives in Missouri with her husband, daughter, and their dog, The WonderMutt. She sees humor in everything and began writing stories about her life as way to share her insanity with the world.

Interview

Where are you from? Im originally from California but now I live in Kansas City, MO.

Tell us your latest news? My first book, Tale from Suburbia: You Dont Have to be Crazy to Live Here, But it Helps, is coming out December 1.

When and why did you begin writing? I have always loved writing. I began this book when my daughter started kindergarten as a way to find my voice again and to remind myself (and others) that being a parent is crazy but were not alone.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? Back in college, a professor that I really looked up to stopped me in the hall and said, You are a really good writer. I loved writing before that but the validation was magical and I think I considered myself a writer since then.

What inspired you to write your first book? I love to laugh and parenthood is funny.

Do you have a specific writing style? I write in a mostly narrative style. I love dialogue and building characters through that dialogue.

How did you come up with the title? Tales from Suburbia is the name of my blog.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Parenthood bonds people of all races and religionswe have all had sleepless nights and we have all kissed our sleeping babies good night. Sometimes we get caught up in all the details. My book reminds people to enjoy the little things and just laugh.

What would you like my readers to know? If you want a good laugh (and maybe even a good, old fashioned cry) check out my book! I guarantee you will see yourself reflected in my words.
