Date Published: June 21, 2014

Would you spend ten days traveling the country with someone you despised if he promised to pay off your student loans?
Recent college graduate, Harper Leigh, can barely make ends meet working as the books editor for a new online entertainment magazine, Chatter. With $85,000 of student loan debt about to go into repayment, she has no idea how she’ll get by.
Just when she thinks things couldn’t get worse, Harper’s boss decides to embed her in the North American tour for the hot rock band, Always Rayne. Ten days on the road with the band for her to get an exclusive story. But Harper’s a homebody and the last thing she wants to do is go on the road with a rock band. And she definitely doesn’t want to spend ten days with the notorious bad boy and band front man, Nic Rayne.
When Nic proves to be too much for Harper to handle and she threatens to quit the assignment, Nic decides to sweeten the pot. If she stays with the tour for all ten days, he’ll pay off all of her student loan debt….but there’s one small catch.
Harper also has to sleep in his bed every night.

Interview:

What inspired you to write your first book?
I knew I wanted to be a writer at a very young age. I wrote my first book when I was five years old. It was called My Family.

Do you have a specific writing style?
My writing style is fast-paced and sparse. I try to leave out all the of boring parts that readers tend to skim or skip entirely.

How did you come up with the title?
It's the name of Nic's band. It's also symbolic.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Don't be too quick to judge people. People are multidimensional and have a lot of layers. It can take time to peel back all the layers and really get to know someone.

How much of the book is realistic?
My books tend to be fairly realistic. (As realistic as romance novels can be.) It's important to keep in mind that readers want to escape when they read a book so it won't be entertaining if it's too realistic!

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Two concepts in the book are based on my own life: I also have a lot of student loan debt. But I'm writing romance novels to pay them! :) And like Harper, I dress like a hippie librarian.

What books have most influenced your life most?
The book that had the greatest impact on my life is Illusions by Richard Bach.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
I don't really have a mentor, who is a writer, but I have been impacted by Colleen Hoover and Tammara Webber. They both paved the way for the emergence of the New Adult sub-genre.

What book are you reading now?
I'm in the midst of reading the Reasonable Doubt series and I'm anxiously waiting for Book 3 to be released.

What would you like my readers to know?
I am so grateful to have so many readers who support me and enjoy my work. Readers are why writers do the work!
